Server-backed accounts

Files and retained versions are stored on our private file service. Your account’s file lists, blocks and history are separate from other accounts. Files are encrypted in transit; this is not a zero-knowledge storage service. The operator manages the storage and recovery.

New server-backed accounts have a 1 GiB allowance, including retained versions and uploaded blocks. Browser uploads and downloads support files up to 64 MiB. Direct transfers support up to 128 MiB. History does not automatically expire in this early-access release.

Direct-only accounts

Your account identity and connection signalling are held on the service. The browser transfers your file directly to the other connected browser, with no file upload, file relay or file storage on our server. Both devices must be online. A network that prevents a direct connection will prevent the transfer.

The connection process uses STUN to discover a network address. STUN exchanges network metadata, not file content. Signalling sessions expire after 10 minutes. File names, content and integrity hashes are exchanged over the peer data channel.

Accounts and sessions

We store your chosen name and username, a salted password hash and revocable device credentials. Web sessions use an essential, secure cookie and expire after 12 hours. We do not add advertising trackers. Infrastructure may retain operational request logs.

What is not enabled

Cross-user folder sharing and FiledSafely blockchain timestamping are planned features. This release makes no blockchain submissions. Independent backup and account-deletion self-service are not included in this early-access release; contact the service operator for account or storage assistance.
